Bin Laden Dead? Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

“The French regional newspaper, L’Est Republicain, has quoted an unconfirmed French secret service report as saying Saudi Arabia is convinced Bin Laden is dead.

A French newspaper says the information comes from meetings between French and Saudi intelligence officials.”

Time for a coup in Thailand Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Tanks outside government house thailand coupWe’ve seen it brewing for the last six months or so in the form of massive protests, but CNN is now reporting rumors suggesting a coup to overthrow Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is about to take place. PM Shinawatra is currently out of the country to address the UN General Assembly in New York.

Update: A blogger from The Stalwart is tracking the situation, and has suggested Dr. Sumeth Tantivechakul will soon assume power.

New 9/11 Footage Friday, September 15th, 2006

For the recent anniversary of the September 11 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York, a couple living near the WTC has released some previously unseen footage shot from their perspective as the events played out. It’s a much more intimate look at the emotions felt by those experiencing the attack than those generally seen from the news outlets, and has some footage showing the scene before emergency crews had arrived.
It begins shortly after the first aircraft has hit, with the impact of the second plane seemingly edited out, and continues after the collapse of both towers.

Another TU-154 down, this time in Iran Friday, September 1st, 2006

80 people are reported dead after a TU-154 crashed on landing in Iran. The Iran Airtour flight is reported to have been carrying 147 people, with a number of passengers safely evacuated. The registration number was EP-MCF according to a post at the airdisasters forum.
As usual the accident is being followed closely at airdisasters.com.
